These G1 Grade Gayo beans are grown in the cool shade on the forested slopes of the mountains in the Leuser National Park in Indonesia, at 1400 metres above sea level. Grown on the Queen Ketiara Estate, a women-led cooperative which promotes and celebrates women in business.
Particular care and attention are paid to protecting the local ecosystem which is home to hundreds of varieties of mammals, birds, primates and reptiles.
These beans are processed using the Giling Basah method which is a term used by Indonesian coffee processors to describe the process they use to remove the hulls of coffee cherries. Literally translated from Indonesian, the term means "wet grinding". They are also triple pick because of the way they are sorted. Any beans that are defective, damaged by insects or under-ripe are removed. This leaves behind only perfect beans which is what makes this such a rich, full, and perfect drink.
This coffee is roasted using the Eco Roast method. Used coffee grounds which are rich in energy and normally end up in landfill, are collected and turned into biofuel which in turn is used to roast fresh batches of coffee. This is a zero-waste solution which enables you to enjoy freshly roasted coffee that has actually helped to reduce waste and carbon emissions, for a more sustainable future.
Open the bag and smell the nutty, fruity, freshly roasted flavours, and visualise the ripe cherries being picked in the early morning mist of East Africa before being carefully processed and delivered right into your hands.
