Agaciro is a Kinyarwandan word (the official language of Rwanda) that means dignity, value and a small price.
This frugal Rwandan Agaciro originates from various smallholders in Rwanda. A fully washed Bourbon and Typica coffee. Grown in fertile volcanic soil at an altitude of 1400-1900 metres above sea level and harvested by hand in March to June.
This wonderful coffee is a blend of beans that did not meet the very strict visual grading needed to produce 1st grade coffees and would normally be wasted. The result? An amazing, incredible quality drink that lacks the visual consistency that a high price ticket bean demands, but not lacking in taste. Be aware, these beans typically make up only 7-10% of unsorted parchment coffee and are not always readily available. A beautiful taste of Africa.
This coffee is roasted using the Eco Roast method. Used coffee grounds which are rich in energy and normally end up in landfill, are collected and turned into biofuel which in turn is used to roast fresh batches of coffee. This is a zero-waste solution which enables you to enjoy freshly roasted coffee that has actually helped to reduce waste and carbon emissions, for a more sustainable future.
